Stockholm, Sweden’s THEN COMES SILENCE have unleashed their first soul-scorching single from upcoming album Hunger, available July 1st on Nexilis and Metropolis Records. The band made up of Alex Svenson (vocals, bass, synthesizer), Jonas Fransson (drums, backing vocals), Mattias Ruejas Jonson (guitar, backing vocals), and Hugo Zombie (guitar) self-describe (aptly) as having a fascination with death, doom, spiritualism, and corruption gathered together with a predisposition towards noise-rock, goth, shoegaze, and psychedelia.
“WITH THE WAVE OF ITS HAND,
SPRING THE TRAPS, CAGES CLOSE BEHIND,
IT SURE GOES BY MANY NAMES,
AND GETS ALL THE GOOD TUNES”
Intently fervent flesh sways in glorious gothic garb — a literal Danse Macabré. Or perhaps a reinterpretation of the death dance, itself a popular subject of art and literature from the late Middle Ages in which Death is shown leading people of all classes and walks of life to the same inescapable fate.
“BEHIND YOUR BACK, PLAYING BY THE RULES,
TURN INTO ANYTHING FOR YOU,
TIME IS SLOWLY RUNNING OUT,
FOR A SECOND, FOR A LIFETIME”
None here wanting, and all tastefully famished…
