Kosheen – Harder They Fall

Slick and addictive, Kosheen has a terrifying talent for creating hook-laden tuneage of which this song surely doesn’t disappoint. Per Wikipedia, “The name Kosheen derives from the name of a North American Apache warrior, Cochise. When in Japan, it was discovered that a combination of the Japanese words for ‘old’ and ‘new’ would make ‘Kosheen’ in Japanese.” Alternatively known for her trip-hop and “hypnotic breakbeats“, this particular track … Continue reading Kosheen – Harder They Fall

Mindless Self Indulgence – Shut Me Up (Uncensored)

MSI has been around-the-block, bought the t-shirt, and worn it threadbare since the early days when they released their eponymous debut album back in 1995. They’re funny; it’s a perverse irreverent humor. They’re insanely creative and they’re outrageous. They don’t give a fuck about their critics and they love their fans (as they should). Ethereal and timeless, the song appears to sing of one who is pining for a lost love and a reminder from each to the other that they will meet again. “The moment that you want is coming if you … Continue reading The Horrors – Still Life

Sure – Precious Words

Another incredible band from Paris, France, Sure is “…made to dance on the ruins of a world bleeding its sense out a little more each day.” Amen to that. This stream-of-bloody-consciousness song and video should serve to remind that angry high-energy music serves its own purpose. PIL frontman Johnny Rotten once said “anger is an energy” — indeed it is and it can be channeled … Continue reading Sure – Precious Words

Fragrance – Heatwave

Fragrance founder Matthieu Roche from Paris, France, released this track “Heatwave” on his debut EP Dust & Disorders in 2017. The video footage is taken from the 1950 movie “Where Danger Lives” and works appreciably well given some cleverly-layered film choreography. Dark, dreamy, and mesmerizing, this tune is a relaxing retro foray into neo-90’s-synthpop that has me looking forward to future parfums de France. More … Continue reading Fragrance – Heatwave
